Safe Computing Guide

To reduce the risk of virus infections, and reduce the possibility of inadvertently triggering or spreading viruses to other people, you should be aware of some easily implemented "safe computing" practices. Put these into effect on your machine today and they will help make your system less prone to malicious code attacks.

To increase security on your system, follow the practices outlined below to set up and configure your system. The idea is to make it more difficult or impossible for malicious code to enter your system or execute automatically.

If you are not sure which operating system is installed on your computer, follow these steps:

  1. Click on "Start" from the menu tab
  2. Select "Settings"
  3. Select "Control Panel"
  4. Double-click the "System" icon
  5. Select the "General" tab
  6. Information about your operating system is now displayed in the "System:" section
