Trend Micro Tokyo Headquarters
Operations and support intact despite recent earthquake and tsunami
March 14th, 2011
We are relieved to announce that our Trend Micro Tokyo headquarters came through the recent earthquake with minimal damage and no injuries or loss of life. Despite continuing difficulties with transportation and land and cellular telephone communications in the Tokyo area, Trend Micro Japan operations and support are intact. Data Center services for email and Internet are functioning with back up plans in place should they be required. To contribute to earthquake-related energy conservation efforts country-wide, use of office lighting is being reduced and employees are being encouraged to telecommute.
Inbound support calls are being routed to other locations until telephone services are more reliable. Product-related pattern file distribution and in-the-cloud security reputation services associated with the Trend Micro Smart Protection Network technology infrastructure continue to be provided globally. Each of these security services are located in multiple data centers around the world and supported with redundant system configurations so that in the event of a power failure or other event such as this, said security services can continue to be provided.
Trend Micro has contributed to earthquake reconstruction and relief efforts by donating 1 million yen. In addition, the company will match staff solicited donations in an equal amount as part of the company's ongoing "Give and Match" global disaster relief program.
We thank you for your thoughts and good wishes at this difficult time and will provide additional updates as appropriate.
