Ralph Liu has been appointed vice president and general manager of Trend Micro, Asia Pacific in May 2002. Reporting directly to President and CEO Steve Chang, Liu will be responsible for Trend Micro's operations in all Asia-Pacific markets outside of Japan, overseeing sales, marketing, technical support, finance and human resources.

Liu's career includes extensive management experience with several leading technology companies at the country, regional and global levels. Most recently, he was vice president of the New Business Architecture Office at Acer, Inc. responsible for new business development in e-solutions and e-services. Prior to that, he was president and CEO of Acer TWP, a subsidiary which develops, publishes and distributes business and entertainment software, games and IT training materials.

Liu spent five years with Novell, progressing from general manager of the Taiwan branch to managing director for greater China with oversight of five regional offices. He also served as sales manager and deputy general manager for Oracle in Taiwan, and held management positions in sales and marketing at HP and IBM Taiwan. Ralph earned his MBA from the University of Missouri-Columbia and his B.S. at Soochow University in Taiwan.
